Species Protection

Since its founding the Wildpark gets every year new owls, falcons and other birds of prey that need special care. We were first appointed as an official rescue centre of the state office for ecology in 1999. We care for and nurse the birds of prey which are entrusted to us with all of our skill and at devotion until they are ready to be released into the wild again.

In this way Wildpark Lüneburger Heide performs unselfish nature conservation measures for the good of the animals.

The Wildpark Lüneburger Heide participates also in international species protection programs. In particular: the European conservation breeding programs for otter, Manchurian cranes, European sea eagles, snow leopard, musk ox, minks and bisons.

In addition we take part in different resettlement projects such as the successful release of lynx back into the wild in national park Harz. Artenschutz-Wildpark Lüneburger Heide e.V.
